This is a photograph of my father's (Vincent Mannelli Sr.) first storefront on Broadway in Bethpage, NY circa 1958. This is where I first trained in the upholstery trade. I would have to go with my father to work as punishment when I misbehaved - so I was there a lot!

My father sold this store in 1959 and moved to Huntington, East Northport and finally Northport, NY. The store in Bethpage still exists today, although it has relocated across the street. Needless to say, I received my training at a very young age and have been involved in the craft for over 60 years.

I couldn't have had a better teacher. Dad was a self-taught, honest hard-working craftsman who believed in the simple rule of under promise and over deliver. His lessons were invaluable and live on today in my work.

I went on my own and opened The Furniture Hospital in 1971 in Northport, moved to Coram in 1973 and was there for 42 years. I sold my building and have rebuilt and relocated to Patchogue, NY.
